Heritage
The name we carry.

It begins with a name.
The firm takes its name from the Yakubu-Tali lineage of Tolon, in Ghana's north. Tolon Naa Alhaji Yakubu Alhassan Tali (1916–1986) began as a teacher, served on the Coussey Committee that prepared the path to independence, and was enskinned paramount chief of Tolon in 1952. For the clarity of his speech, his contemporaries called him the Golden Voice of the North.
He was Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly from 1960, and the young republic then sent him abroad: High Commissioner in Lagos from 1965 to 1968, Ambassador in Belgrade during the Second Republic, and High Commissioner in Sierra Leone from 1972. In 1979 he sat in the Constituent Assembly that framed the Third Republic. The photographs above come from the family archive of those years.
A name carried through decades of public service sets the standard the firm works to: facts verified before they are passed on, and institutions treated with respect. Founded in 2023, J.P. Yata continues that tradition in commercial form, as an adviser between Ghana's institutions and international capital.

A name in public life.
In 2024, Tamale's international airport was renamed after Yakubu Tali. The terminal that carries the family name stands in the region where the firm's story begins.
