Who we are

Our Heritage

J.P. Yata is more than a company — it is a vision carried forward from generations of leadership and service. Built on the legacy of the Yakubu-Tali family, whose influence in Ghanaian leadership and nation-building spans generations, we bridge Ghana’s agricultural excellence with global markets, guided by values of integrity, responsibility, and purpose.

The foundation of our story begins with Alhaji Yakubu Tali (the Tolon Naa), Paramount Chief of Tolon, diplomat, President of the Northern People’s Council and Member of Parliament in the Gold Coast era. Throughout his life, he played a pivotal role in building bridges between Ghana and the world, embodying the values of service, dignity, and leadership.

His example remains our compass as we build the next generation of African trade.

Section 2 – A National Symbol

Yakubu-Tali International Airport

In recognition of this legacy, Ghana’s government renamed Tamale’s airport to Yakubu-Tali International Airport. This honor reflects the family’s contribution to national unity and development — and stands as a constant reminder of service and responsibility.

Today, this tradition continues through the leadership of Alhassan Yakubu-Tali and J.P. Yata, driving impact in agricultural trade, financing and value chain development. Our heritage is not only history — it is the foundation of our forward-looking vision.
